All Fields Portsmouth Criterium - 9-16-07
It looks like NEBC/Cycle Loft/Devonshire Dental had a great showing at the Portsmouth Criterium! In the elite women’s field, Rebecca Wellons with the help of Susanne Delaney, and Tami Buhr represented the team sponsors well by taking a podium spot! Congratulations to Rebecca on her 3rd place finish! Perhaps this is a good sign for the cyclocross season as she carries a phenomenal amount of fitness through the end of the road season. If I were the competition, I’d be quaking in my ‘cross shoes.
In the elite men’s race, Peter Bradshaw (23rd), David Rizzo (48th), and Jay Francis (49th) all finished safely in the pack. An elite group of 6, including 3 professional riders, managed to finish 7 seconds clear of the main field.
As is mentioned in their race report, the Cat. 4 field saw a major crash that resulted in two NEBC/Cycle Loft/Devonshire Dental riders going to the hospital in ambulances. The news is that Joe Jussaume and Darrell Morrow are alright, though. Aside from John Gibbons’ impressive 3rd place. Bernard Tan (13th), Pat Convery (18th), Brad Buckley (29th), Brian Anderson (31st), and Tim Dodd (33rd) all finished in the pack. Unfortunately, John McGrath, a recent upgrade to the Cat. 4’s after absolutely dominating the 5’s all summer, fell off the pace and finished a lap down.
