When did you start racing, how and why?
I started mountain bike racing in the 6th grade, becuase my neighbor was going so I went along, it was something to do. I never rode a road bike till 1999, but didn’t start racing on the road until 2004.
Who were/are your cycling mentors and/or influences?
Mark Nichaelson and Stoney
What would you consider your finest moment on the bike?
When I won the Beanpot Crit in the Cat 4s in 2005!
What was your worst or most embarrassing moment on the bike?
There’s been so many, all the crashes!
What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen on a bike ride?
A guy on a penny farthing racing through traffic.
What’s the one thing you’ve done on a ride (training or race) that you will absolutely never do again?
Hopefully… hit a guard rail at 40mph!
What’s the best advice you ever got for training/racing on the bike?
Eddie Merckx said it best, “ride lots”.
